The Debt Project Print, Installation

The Debt Project, is an exploration of the role debt and finance plays in our personal identity and social structure. This project takes an intimate look into my financial debt and the story behind the numbers. The amount of debt was calculated through tax documents from my parents and I, physical receipts, my own personal loans, and bank statements. We are always taught since youth to never talk about three thing politics, religion and money the aim of this project was to open a conversation about personal debt and how debt affects the most memorable moments in our lives.

Let’s Talk About It.

When we refuse to talk about money and debt, we’re simply feeding the idea that it’s a taboo subject, especially with our loved ones. What you’ll probably find, however, if you speak more openly about your finances, is that you’re not the only one with debt.

The Debt Project.

This project started with an insight of my life since birth in 1995. I began this project by comparing my personal finances to those across the country i started by looking through bank statements, tax documents and physical receipts. The next step was the installation i wanted something tangible something physical and loud. I wanted to create a physical representation of debt and how overwhelming debt feels.
